The tower, whose tall and slender profile rises to a sloped glass enclosed garden that can be seen from miles around, creates a symbolic statement that announces the New City Garden Hotel. The prominence of the rooftop garden will be a most memorable addition to the skyline of Suzhou particularly at night when the trees and other plantings will be visible through the glass.

The exterior granite will be both flamed and polished with the flamed portion being the main facade and the polished portion being the chamfered areas around the windows. The diagonal glass element, which cuts through the stone mass, is intended to unify the design as it stretches from the ground across and up the building.

Guests and visitors arrive at the entrance lobby and may proceed to the elevator banks to take them to the guestrooms, swimming pool and health club and roof garden. Visitors who will go to the roof garden and lounge at the top of the building will take the dramatic vista elevators located on the north end of the building near the entry.

Sydness Architects prepared this design as part of an invited design competition.
