Lobby Design
The intimate lobby in the New York Gallery Building at 24 West 57th Street, in New York had become tired and very dated and the owners wanted a transforming design that complemented the high quality galleries that make up the building’s tenancy.
Our design softened the hard edges and minimized the intrusion of the structural columns by introducing an all-white palette for the walls and column covers, a new stone floor and a new indirect lighting scheme. The security desk, which was designed as a minimalist piece of furniture, is fabricated from the same material as the column covers. A video wall serves as a building directory and allows the galleries in the building to show previews of their installations.
