Panama City, Panama
Banking Headquarters
525,000 sq. ft.
This 35-story banking headquarters complex was designed for the heart of booming Panama City, Panama. The design calls for a plaza and an enclosed palm court with restaurants and shops that will add a vital new ingredient to the financial district of this city set on the shore of the Pacific Ocean. A large branch bank will also be located on the ground floor of the tower.
The tower façade that is embraced by the glass-stepped lower section is clad with two shades of granite and includes punched windows with “eyebrows” for passive sun screening. In keeping with the typical needs the Latin American market, the floor plates will be less than 15,000 square feet but will include the technological accommodations needed to create a building that will typify the best of the “Smart Buildings” to serve into the next millennium. Jeff Sydness was the Design Principal for this project while at SHCA.
