Single Family Home
Completed 1997
This house is in a planned community of nearly 100 acres that contains a substantial amount of preserved wetlands, seven multi-family residential buildings, and fifteen bay front homes. The community was master planned by Sydness Architects, and the developer established a set of design guidelines that sought to retain a Mediterranean character for both the homes and buildings.
Working within the framework of the design guidelines the architects responded with a house that has two distinct wings joined by a large central two-story space. The wings open toward the water and the view, resulting in a wedge-shaped central space that has the entry on one side and a terrace on the waterside. There are four distinct levels in the house, with the master suite situated on the upper level of one wing and guest quarters on the upper level of the other wing. A spacious kitchen with eating area open out to the terrace and the water.
